Return to Paphos from Nicosia

On our return to Paphos from Nicosia, we visited the mountain village of Kakopetria and the Geopark restoration site in the Troodos Mountains, where we learned about asbestos mining and it's negative impact on health as a carcinogen. Our next visit was to Kykkos Monastery, offering stunning views. We also visited the highest point in Cyprus, which houses a British base. It was interesting to note that the British have a base in such a significant area as it signifies colonial power and reach. We passed through Persiterona, a village where Greek and Turkish Cypriots once lived peacefully together. This visit highlighted the potential for harmony when communities live closely, despite governmental or colonial influences which can cause division.
