Second Structured Educational Experience (Field Trip)

This was a busy day, beginning with a 6 AM wake-up for our second field trip. We visited an underground religious site with a cloth-covered tree (The Wishing Tree), St. Paul’s Pillar, and several archaeological sites in Paphos, including intricate mosaics discovered by a farmer. We saw the Tombs of the Kings and Saint Neophytos Monastery, which was high in the mountains. A boat ride took us to the Blue Lagoon, where I enjoyed the beautiful scenery despite not swimming. Lunch was at the Baths of Aphrodite Restaurant, where I tried Veggie Moussaka and delicious Kattemeri for dessert. The view from this restaurant was absolutely stunning. We returned to Paphos Gardens in the evening and my roommates and I went out for a ice cream, watched the waves, and experienced a brief but heavy rain shower. Most of the time when it rains in Cyprus, it tends to be very brief, clearing up within minutes. This is very different from the weather I am used to in Ohio, where thunderstorms can go on for hours.
